Rainbow Trout

Rainbow trout are Utah's most widely stocked and most approachable game fish, found in waters ranging from high mountain reservoirs to lowland lakes across the state. They're aggressive feeders that respond well to flash, scent, and movement, which makes them a great entry point for newer anglers while still rewarding more technical presentations. Depending on the water, Utah rainbows are taken by trolling, still-fishing with bait under a bobber, casting spinners, or fly fishing — the right approach changes lake by lake, which is exactly why we break tactics down water by water below.
