Wiper (Hybrid Striped Bass)
Wipers are a hybrid cross of striped bass and white bass, stocked specifically because they grow fast, fight hard, and don't reproduce on their own — meaning every fish in the water is one Utah's Division of Wildlife Resources put there. They're aggressive, schooling predators that chase shad in open water, often giving away their location with dramatic surface "boils" as they herd baitfish to the top. That schooling, run-and-gun behavior is what makes wiper fishing feel different from most other Utah species — speed and reaction matter as much as presentation.
