Painted Ball Head Jigs - Chartreuse 1/8 Oz.
1/8 oz ball head jig, painted chartreuse.
Chartreuse earns its spot for one reason: it stays readable when nothing else does. Stained water after a blow, chop breaking up the light, a flat grey sky, the last half hour of the evening — a natural finish goes invisible in all of that and chartreuse doesn't. It also puts a bright point right at the head of the bait, which gives a fish something to aim at instead of nipping the tail and missing the hook.
The head is round on purpose. It falls straight down instead of gliding off to one side, and it contributes no action of its own, so the grub you thread on is the only thing moving. At an eighth of an ounce it falls slow enough to stay in front of a fish that's looking at it, and still casts into a breeze and holds bottom contact.
